PANAJI: As part of its ongoing investigation into an online sex trade racket, the Goa Police Crime Branch has summoned three taxi drivers on suspicion of being complicit in the crime and engaging in transporting women and their clients to particular areas in exchange for a commission.
Officers are looking through taxi ride logs and interviewing drivers who may have assisted in the sex racket.
The drivers have been identified by the police as Zeeshan Ali Sheikh from Marod in Mapusa, Umesh Bagli from Reis Magos, and Imam Sutar from Paliem in Pernem. According to authorities, everyone is assisting with the investigation.
Four alleged accused individuals were previously detained by the Crime Branch. They were Syed Usman, 54, of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh; Mohammad Mohebbulla, 30 of Gurgaon, Haryana; Yogesh Kumar, 42, of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh; and Subash Pradhan, an Odishan who currently resides in Nerul, Bardez.
They were accused of running an escort website and posting pornographic images of women.
Additionally, they included a phone number on the website, which customers used. Customers confirmed that the accused worked with other agents to complete deals.
According to the authorities, the website they removed is still up and running and leads to another website that shows a variety of images of young ladies along with their measurements, whose “services” may be scheduled with a mouse click.
According to investigations, the four accused arranged transactions to facilitate the services, and clients paid using cash or mobile applications based on UPI. In exchange for their involvement, the accused received commissions.
