PERNEM: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Digambar Kamat today stressed that every legislator must uphold personal dignity and decorum while participating in protests, amid the ongoing agitation against Section 39A of the TCP Act.
Reacting to the developments surrounding the protest, Kamat said that while dissent is part of democracy, elected representatives should not cross certain boundaries.
“Every MLA must maintain his own respect. We also protested in the past, but we never entered government offices or pressured government officials,” Kamat stated.
When asked about the incident involving MLA Viresh Borkar, Kamat refrained from making any specific remarks, saying he would not comment on what transpired.
His statement comes at a time when protests against Section 39A have intensified, drawing sharp political reactions across party lines.
