Canacona: Former Deputy Speaker and ex-Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes on Sunday felicitated Ms. Samiksha Velip of Gaondongrim, who has been appointed as a Konkani Interpreter in the Lok Sabha.
Fernandes lauded Velip’s achievement, noting that she is the first person from Canacona to secure the prestigious position. He visited her residence to extend congratulations and assured her of any support needed to pursue her work in the national capital.
The former MLA also recalled his close association with her late father, Nagesh Velip, describing him as one of his staunch supporters. The visit turned emotional as Samiksha and her family remembered her father’s active role during Fernandes’ campaign trails.
Accompanying Fernandes were CMC Councillor Shubham Komarpant, Gaondongrim Panch (Bhupar ward) Sarita Velip, Mallikarjun Devasthan President Dudu Velip, Konkani Seva Kendra President Suraj Komarpant, and Sunay Komarpant.
It may be recalled that Samiksha Velip, along with Gauri Mavlinkar, were recently appointed as Konkani Interpreters in the Lok Sabha after clearing the Consultant Interpreters Empanelment Test.
