TIVIM: Former Tivim Sarpanch Venkatesh Shirodkar was questioned at the Colvale Police Station after a complaint from the Town and Country Planning Department (TCP) regarding alleged irregularities in granting permission for development works at Survey No. 485/1-A of V.P. Tivim.
Police sources informed that the enquiry was initiated based on inputs received from TCP authorities concerning the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for road construction linked to a plotted property in Tivim. Further investigation is currently underway.
According to local sources, the property in question was subdivided and plotted between 2010 and 2016. Objections were reportedly raised in 2011 when Tulshidas Shinde was serving as Sarpanch of V.P. Tivim, with then ward member Arjun Aroskar questioning aspects of the development. The matter is said to have remained in dispute between the panchayat and the developer until January 2025.
Majority of the plots were allegedly sold between 2012 and 2016 during the tenure of former MLA Kiran Kandolkar.
Sources further stated that after the demise of ward member Arjun Aroskar, the then Sarpanch Venkatesh Shirodkar issued an NOC in May 2025 permitting construction of internal roads within the plotted layout. It is alleged that Shirodkar is associated with a panel linked to Kandolkar.
Meanwhile, allegations and counter-allegations have surfaced locally, with claims that residents are being misled over the issue. Records of the NOC issued in May 2025 and sale deeds executed during the earlier tenure are expected to be placed on record as part of the ongoing enquiry.
Police have not ruled out further action pending scrutiny of documents and technical reports from the TCP department.
