PANAJI: An incident of alleged exam result manipulation has surfaced at the Goa College of Architecture in Altinho, with Examination In-Charge Aniruddha Pawar at the center of the controversy. Three faculty members have submitted a formal complaint to the college principal, calling for Pawar’s immediate removal and disciplinary action to uphold the credibility of the examination system.
The issue began in January when two sealed envelopes containing grading and attendance records for Semester III (Visual Arts and Crafts) and Semester VII (Design Studio) reportedly went missing. Despite the disappearance of the original documents, Pawar allegedly declared the Semester III results by using a reconstructed and manipulated grade sheet, said to be prepared by course convenor Beena Gangani, without consulting the examination committee.
The grading sheet for Semester III was signed by Gangani and her team of examiners, while the Semester VII grades were certified by a panel led by Viswesh Kandolkar. On February 7, the Semester III results were declared using the allegedly fabricated data. The original sealed envelopes were recovered a week later, and the Semester VII results were released on February 28.
The discrepancy between the fabricated and original grade sheets for Semester III has raised serious concerns, as differences were observed in the declared marks. The manipulation remained undetected until the original documents resurfaced.
Dr Gouri Desai, a Member of the Board of Studies at Goa University and a former Examination In-Charge, has also raised objections. In a letter to the principal and the Vice Chancellor, she expressed serious concerns over the handling of the evaluation process, particularly the conduct of supplementary exams without verifying the original records. She has urged the administration to take corrective action to restore faith in the institution’s examination procedures.
