MARGAO: The high-handedness of the BJP Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is repeatedly causing loss to the State Treasury, Congress leader Moreno Rebello said.
“After receiving severe bashing from the Hon’ble High Court as well as the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the matter pertaining to Reservations in Municipal Elections, no lessons were learnt, and the BJP Government was once again fell flat on its face after the Hon’ble High Court’s direction to hold the Panchayat Elections within next 45 days,” he said. Rebello demanded the entire cost of the legal proceedings must be recovered from the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant.
“This is a slap on the face of the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who had blamed the NGOs for compelling the Government to incur huge expenditure on fighting cases in the Courts and NGT. The faulty, undemocratic and unconstitutional decision of the Government compelled the Citizens to approach the Court seeking direction on holding timely Panchayat Elections. I also demand that the entire cost of the petitioners should also be paid by the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant,” stated Moreno Rebello.
He said the government’s intentions to completely sideline the Other Backward Castes stands exposed with the ruling of the High Court. I want to categorically state that the Government deliberately kept finalizing the OBC Quota reservation on hold.
“I want to warn the Government that they should refrain from approaching the Supreme Court to seek relief from on the High Court Order by spending Tax Payers Money,” stated Rebello.
