PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that a total of 47 FIRs are with Special Investigation Team (SIT) Land Grab for investigation and that expert opinion from Forensic Laboratory delays speedy investigation
“Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted for investigating the land grabbing cases on 15/06/2022. Total 47 FIRs are with SIT (LG) for investigation, out of which 25 FIRs are registered by SIT (LG) and 22 FIRs are transferred to SIT (LG) from various Police Stations, out of which 08 FIRs are Charge-sheeted,” said Sawant
He further said that total 47 complaints are filed as on date after the constitution of the SIT and total 70 persons are arrested as on date.
Sawant also informed that Chief Justice, High Court of Bombay has concurred to designate two courts as Special Courts to prosecute land grabbing cases investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), RibanderGoa. These courts are the District Judge-I and Additional Session Judge, Panaji for North Goa and the District Judge –I and Additional Session Judge, Margao for South
Goa.
“The investigation of land grabbing cases are bulky and contains huge data. Some documents are in mutilated conditions. The translation of old Portuguese documents and expert opinion from Forensic Laboratory delays speedy investigation” CM informed
