Government will take strict action societies causing stigmatization againt Covid-19 patients who opted home isolation
PANJIM:In a bid to reduce co-morbid deaths, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that extremely critical patient’s will not be shifted to covid hospital, but will be treated in Goa Medical College and Hopsital (GMCH).
Rane also said the state government will take strict action against the colonies and societies which stigmatises COVID-19 positive patients who have take home isolation.
Addressing the media, Rane said,”extremely critical COVID19 patients will not be shifted to covid hospital, but will be treated in Goa GMC wards 145, 146 & 147. Also critical patients at ESI will be shifted to GMC for treatment, this decision has been taken to reduce co-morbid deaths.”
Rane said that government will take strict action societies causing stigmatization againt Covid-19 patients who opted home isolation.
“We are receiving complaints that colonies and societies are trying to stigmatise COVID-19 patients who have taken home isolation by adopting their owns rules. Also there have been complaints that basic amenities are not reaching these patients due to the rules sets by societies.”
He said, “Law will take its course if any society or colony will come in the way of home isolation.”
Rane further said that its the state government decision to allow patients to adopt home isolation.
“This has been passed under the cabinet. No one else can decide on this, only the state government has the power to. I request the colonies not stigmatises COVID-19 positive patients who have take home isolation.” Rane said
The Health Minister also informed that his department will take the best of care of patients who have been Covid-19 positive.
