BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that the fact-finding committee investigating the Shirgao Lairai Zatra fire incident will not be submitting its report today.
However, preliminary interactions with the families of the deceased and others affected have already revealed critical areas needing administrative improvement.
“After speaking to the families and various stakeholders, we have realized that there are certain things at the administrative level that need to be streamlined,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister did not elaborate on the specific shortcomings but assured that the state government is committed to addressing systemic gaps that may have contributed to the tragedy.
The stampede during the annual Lairai Zatra festival resulted in multiple casualties and left several devotees critically injured.
While the full findings of the committee are awaited, the government has already initiated emergency medical protocols and vowed comprehensive reforms.
