VASCO: The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), Goa chapter, has welcomed the Government of India’s move to rationalize GST rates, stating that the reforms will provide a major boost to the automobile sector by simplifying taxation and making vehicles more affordable.
Chairman of FADA Goa, Prashant Joshi, said the decision would have a direct positive impact on automobile trade in the state. “The government’s efforts to rationalize GST rates can significantly benefit the automobile sector in Goa by simplifying the tax structure, reducing compliance costs, and making vehicles more affordable for consumers,” Joshi remarked.
He added that the reforms could stimulate demand for vehicles, benefiting local dealerships and strengthening the state economy. “With reduced GST rates, demand for vehicles in Goa is likely to increase, which will directly benefit local dealerships and contribute to the growth of Goa’s economy. This is a step in the right direction,” he stated.
Joshi, however, also urged the state government to complement the Centre’s move with its own measures. “The Government of Goa should further boost the economy by introducing a uniform road tax of 6 percent for all categories of vehicles. A simplified and uniform tax structure will encourage more buyers and ensure steady growth in the sector,” he suggested.
He noted that automobile dealers across the state have welcomed the reforms wholeheartedly. “All automobile dealers in Goa wholeheartedly welcome the Government of India’s decision. These reforms not only support the automobile trade but also strengthen consumer confidence, which is crucial for sustaining growth in the sector,” Joshi said.
FADA Goa has expressed hope that with these changes, Goa’s automobile sector will witness renewed momentum, supporting both businesses and consumers alike.
