PANAJI: Another arrest was made by the Crime Branch on in relation to the State’s educational institutions issuing fake certificates.
During the ongoing inquiry, the accused—Prabdeep, also known as Vikrant Ganesh Halankar, and Jagdish Chandra Khandapal, who led the management of Grace Institution of Education and Vikrant MGT & Technology—came under suspicion of issuing phoney certificates.
After then, Pradeep was taken into custody. SP According to Rahul Gupta, Khandapal was the principal and Halankar was the director.
They were implicated in fabricating and distributing phoney mark sheets and certificates under the pretence of being accredited educational institutions, according to investigations.
Additionally, the accused allegedly included Khandapal’s wife, Cynthia, and their daughter, Swizel, who were front desk employees in the scheme.
The accused were arrested in accordance with Section 336(3) read with Sections 3(5) and 3(6) of the BNS Act, 2023, after one of the victims produced a certificate that the accused had issued.
Including the previous arrests of Bindi Parab, Bhavesh Haldankar, Niraj Gawade, Vishnudas Bhomkar, and Yeshwant Kholkar, this increases the total number of arrests to six.
It is alleged that the accused falsified their Aadhaar cards, academic records, and other identity documents in order to obtain work.
