VAGATOR: A case has been registered at 20.34 hours on January 28, 2026, on the complaint of Rahul Ramnath, a major, owner of Cafe CO2, Vagator, Bardez, alleging cheating and impersonation.
As per the complaint, on December 13, 2025, near KFC Circle, Calangute, the accused Suraj Pendse (address not known) allegedly impersonated himself as an official of the Goa Pollution Control Board (GPCB). The accused reportedly had detailed knowledge of existing PCB licences, including capacity details and expiry timelines, and falsely claimed that the Collector’s office had directed him to verify licences following the sealing of the complainant’s restaurant.
Police said the accused dishonestly induced the complainant by misrepresentation and false assurances, and collected a total amount of ₹9,59,500 in cash, via GPay using a scanner code in the name of co-accused Anuradha Madhav Bedekar (full address not known), and through multiple bank transfers. The money was allegedly taken under the pretext of upgrading and renewing Pollution Control Board licences for Cafe CO2, Vagator; Noah, Vagator; and Delmar, Morjim, and was transferred to bank accounts linked to the accused and his associates.
The complainant later realised that he had been cheated to the tune of ₹9.59 lakh.
