Panaji: The Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa, has arrested a 31-year-old man from Haryana in connection with a massive online investment fraud amounting to ₹1.64 crore.
The offence was registered on January 19, 2026, at the Cyber Crime Police Station under Crime No. 03/26 under Sections 318 (4), 319 (2) read with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66-D of the Information Technology Act, based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Corlim, Tiswadi-Goa.
As per police investigation, between October 18, 2025 and January 16, 2026, the accused and his associates contacted the complainant through social media and added him to a WhatsApp group. The fraudsters allegedly posed as partners of “Dalton Investment Inc” and claimed association with Retailer Associations Mumbai.
The complainant was induced to invest in upper circuit (UC) and initial public offering (IPO) stocks of SeAH and PLAI companies on the promise of high returns. Believing the claims, the victim transferred ₹1,64,39,190.62 in 13 separate transactions to multiple bank accounts across India.
Police said the accused impersonated legitimate investment entities using computer resources and electronic communication platforms to cheat the complainant.
Following technical analysis and financial trail tracking, the accused, identified as Pushkar Goyal (DOB: 02/08/1994), a resident of Chawla Colony, Ballabgarh, Faridabad, Haryana, was traced and apprehended by a Goa Police team.
The operation was carried out by PSI Anil Polekar, HC Anay Naik and LHC Suvarna Gaude under the supervision of SP Rahul Gupta, IPS, ASP Smt. B.V. Shridevi, IPS, and PI Deepak Pednekar of the Cyber Crime Police Station.
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused was operating multiple bank accounts. In one instance, he allegedly received ₹28 lakh in his Axis Bank account from the complainant. The said bank account has reportedly been linked to several cybercrime cases registered in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, involving a total fraud amount of approximately ₹2.40 crore.
The arrested accused is being produced before the court for police custody. Further investigation is underway under the supervision of PI Deepak Pednekar.
