PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered a case against a 45-year-old man from Karnataka for allegedly molesting and sexually harassing a woman inside a casino vessel anchored in the Mandovi River.
The incident came to light after a woman from Bangalore, Karnataka, lodged a complaint at around 12:55 am on 1 December 2025, stating that the accused had repeatedly approached, followed, and touched her inappropriately while she was playing at Majestic Pride Casino.
According to police, the harassment occurred on 30 November 2025 between 2 pm and 10 pm, and again on 1 December 2025 during the same time period. Despite the complainant’s clear unwillingness to engage in conversation, the accused allegedly persisted, followed her around the casino, touched her shoulder inappropriately, and even requested sexual favours, thereby outraging her modesty.
The accused has been identified as Malikaarjun V.E., 45, a farmer from Talaya, Chitradurga, Karnataka (577527).
Panaji Police have registered Crime No. 172/2025 under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. A notice under Section 35 of the BNSS has also been issued to the accused.
Further investigation is underway under PSI Saheen Shetye.
