PONDA: Farmers at Bethora have suffered a major loss as cashew plantation was gutted in fire.
The farmers has reported a loss of Rs 1 lakh due to the fire.
A farmer, Vishnukant Naik said the garbage set on fire at BondBaag Bethora was spread to his cashew Bagayat and caused losses to the tune of one lakh at time.
He demanded with aunthororties to conduct probe into matter and pay him compensation for the loss of trees in fire spread in his Cashew Bagayat as it was cashew season.
He said the fire occured on 20 Feb
Ponda fire brigade rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, saving some trees.
He said that when the cashew season is just approaching, he suffered loss.
