BAINA: A tragic road accident at the Baina flyover on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a Vasco woman and left another grievously injured. The mishap occurred around 2.15 pm when a Hero Honda Passion motorcycle, ridden by Mahesh Tulaskar of New Vaddem with his pillion rider Manasvi Tulaskar, collided head-on with a Dio scooter coming from the opposite direction.
Police stated that the Dio scooter was travelling from Sada towards Dabolim when the motorcycle coming from New Vaddem towards Sada dashed into it on the flyover. The pillion rider of the scooter sustained grievous injuries, while Manasvi, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, was rushed to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, where she succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
An inquest panchanama was conducted and the body was sent to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for post-mortem examination. Police Surgeon certified the cause of death as head injury, and the body was later handed over to the family for final rites.
Mormugao police have registered a case under sections 281, 125(b), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The investigation is being carried out by PSI Suraj Naik under the supervision of PI Sherif Jacques and the guidance of DySP Gurudas Kadam.
