Pernem: Pernem Police have registered a fatal accident case under Cr. No. 53/2025 U/S 281, 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, following a tragic incident on National Highway 66 near Don Khamb, Dhargal.
According to the state complaint lodged by HC-4700 P. C. Tuyekar, the accident occurred at around 2:10 PM on Tuesday, when a Tata passenger bus (MH-14-KQ-9753), driven by Udaysingh Powar (43), a resident of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, rammed into the rear of a Yamaha Fascino scooter (GA-03-AG-5628) traveling in the same direction.
The impact caused the scooter rider, Sudeep Paikar (18), a resident of Bhattiwada, Nerul, Bardez, to fall on the road and sustain severe head injuries. He was being referred to North District Hospital in Mapusa for treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries en route.
The accused driver has been booked for driving in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. Investigation Officer PSI Pravin Simepurushkar of Pernem Police Station is conducting further inquiries.
