Panaji: In a thrilling start to the U-15 Women’s Football Tournament organized by Navelim Sporting Club, Fatima Convent High School, Margao, and St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda, made their mark with convincing victories. The tournament, held at Rosary Church Ground in Navelim, saw Fatima Convent High School dominate the inaugural match, while St. Anne’s Institute secured a hard-fought win.
Fatima Convent High School, Margao, set the tone for the tournament with a resounding 4-0 victory over Saviour of the World Loutolim. The match, played on Thursday at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim, was a showcase of Fatima Convent’s prowess. Shailaika Rodrigues was the star of the show, scoring two goals and earning the Player of the Match award from football player and coach Covan Lawrence. Jeanne D’Silva and Cricia Almeida also contributed to the scoreline with one goal each.
In another exciting match of the day, St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda, edged past St. Joseph High School, Aquem, with a narrow 1-0 win. The decisive goal was scored by Gwneith Fernandes, whose effort proved crucial in securing the victory for St. Anne’s Institute.
The U-15 Women’s Football Tournament, organized by Navelim Sporting Club, promises to be an exciting event with talented young players from various schools showcasing their skills.
