Margao: Fatorda Police have registered a case against four persons for allegedly threatening a city builder and extorting ₹2 crore from him over an apartment construction project in Benaulim.
The complainant, Shrinivas Thorwat, Managing Partner of Ambica Realty and resident of Fatorda, told police that on August 14 at around 8.15 am, he was intercepted near City Center Café, Gogal-Fatorda, by Tirupati Varkuri of Margao, Walter Fernandes of Raia, Rohit Faldessai of Fatorda, and Vinod Kumar Totad of Maina-Curtorim.
Thorwat alleged that the accused wrongfully restrained him, issued death threats to him and his minor children, and forced him to pay ₹2 crore under fear of death.
Police have registered an offence of wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation and extortion with common intention.
The investigation is being conducted by LPSI Sukhada Prabhudessai of Fatorda Police Station.
