Team Goemkarponn
PANAJI: In a swift response to a news report highlighting non-compliant food outlets near Alankar in Mapusa, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane reiterated his commitment to ensuring safe and hygienic food for all Goans. Following the report, a team from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), led by Designated Officer Richard Noronha, conducted a thorough inspection of food vendors in the area.
During the inspection, two food vendors were found operating without the necessary clearances, prompting immediate action. The vendors were directed to shut down their operations and were penalized under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
In addition, the FDA team inspected a base kitchen of a prominent bakery located in Karaswada. The inspection revealed unhygienic conditions, leading to the suspension of the bakery’s operations until the necessary improvements are made.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every Goan. This action is part of our ongoing efforts to enforce food safety standards across the state,” said Minister Vishwajit Rane.
The quick and decisive action taken by the FDA serves as a reminder that food safety regulations will be strictly enforced, and businesses failing to comply with health and hygiene standards will face penalties. The Health Minister assured the public that these measures would continue, reinforcing the state’s dedication to upholding the highest food safety standards.
