PANAJI: Reaffirming the government’s commitment to safe and hygienic food, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted an evening enforcement drive across food outlets in Panaji to check compliance with sanitary and hygiene standards.
During the inspection, a total of 23 food establishments were assessed. Several outlets received improvement notices for minor non-compliances, while three were directed to suspend operations due to serious food safety violations. Inspection reports were issued to all outlets.
Minister Rane highlighted that “multiple outlets were found employing food handlers without valid sanitary cards. These workers have been immediately barred from handling food until the required sanitary credentials are obtained. Outlets operating with only FSSAI registration have been instructed to obtain proper licences within seven days.”
He added that strict enforcement of food safety norms remains central to the government’s efforts to protect public health and ensure safe food for all Goans.
