MAPUSA: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) organized a program for traditional Goan bakers and other bakers across Goa on ‘Food Safety Training and Certification and Nutrition’.
The program began with an inaugural session, lamp lighting, and keynote address by the Director FDA, Ms Shweta S. Dessai who spoke about the importance of bread, and how its identity is diminishing.
She emphasized on the importance of the need for FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) training towards ensuring safety and hygiene in the bakery sector.
This was followed by the launch of a recipe book by Chef Rodwin highlighting healthy recipes for bakery products.
Chef Rodwin delivered a lecture on “Healthy Brown: A perspective for modern baking, and emphasized on the need for production of healthier alternatives for maida based bakery products, including bread.
A talk on Nutrition was delivered by Ms Rohini Diniz highlighting the importance of eating healthy and sustainable food, and how to incorporate various grains in our diet.
A training was conducted for the bakers by D&D Strategic Consulting, which was delivered by Akshaya Dubbewar, an FSSAI approved trainer.
