Panaji: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Goa conducted surveillance checks along the coastal belt to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene norms.
The inspection drive covered cashew shops, restaurants, and biryani outlets in the area.
During the checks, the FDA team observed multiple irregularities and issued necessary directions to ensure public health safety. Three biryani outlets were instructed to relocate their biryani vessels inside their shop premises, while one restaurant was directed to shut down operations due to non-compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
As part of the awareness initiative, ten cashew shops were provided with “Informative Posters” containing consumer guidelines on purchasing cashews, which are to be displayed prominently in their establishments.
The FDA has cautioned that strict action will follow in case of any further non-compliance and appealed to all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to adhere strictly to food safety norms, maintain proper hygiene, and ensure that their premises meet regulatory standards.
