Team Goemkarponn
BARDEZl In a major crackdown on unhygienic food practices and regulatory violations, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continued its enforcement drive in Bardez and Pernem talukas this week. The inspection was carried out by a team comprising officials Richard Noronha, Amit Mandrekar, Lenin De Sa, and Nousin Mulla, under the guidance of FDA Director Shweta Desai.
Two manufacturing units engaged in preparing and supplying Indian snacks to several retail outlets were ordered to shut down due to unhygienic conditions. Additionally, one unit operating under the name Bangalore Bakery was directed to suspend operations immediately.
In Parra, a local restaurant was also served a suspension notice after failing to meet food safety norms.
In a separate and more serious development, FDA officials uncovered a case involving a fake FSSAI license in Karaswada. A wholesale supplier was found operating with a forged food safety license allegedly provided by a Mumbai-based consultant.
The vendor, who operates two outlets—one in Karaswada and another in Dhargal—has been issued a stop notice and directed to file an FIR against the consultant.
FDA authorities emphasized that strict action will continue against those endangering public health and flouting food safety regulations.
