PERNEM: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a surveillance drive in the Pernem area targeting cashew nut vendors operating along the Mopa airport road and towards Patradevi. During the inspection of 10 shops, one vendor was ordered to shut down for selling substandard cashews and operating without a license, while a case was booked against another for selling substandard cashews. Additionally, one vendor was fined ₹10,000 for selling low-grade cashews. Samples were also collected from other outlets for laboratory analysis. The inspection team included Richard Noronha, Bhakti Walke, Ram Dhuri, Budgo Gurav, Lenin De Sa, Amit Mandrekar and Darlan Diukar, under the guidance of FDA Director Shweta Dessai.
