Colva: As part of its ongoing food safety enforcement drive, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a special evening inspection in Colva on Wednesday. The operation targeted street food vendors, restaurants, and ice cream carts to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
During the inspection, one restaurant and a chips manufacturing unit were ordered to shut down immediately for operating without valid FSSAI licenses and under unhygienic conditions. In addition, the FDA team issued 18 notices to other vendors found to be operating without proper licenses.
The enforcement team also revisited several establishments in Navelim to verify compliance with previous directives.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane praised the FDA officials for their proactive efforts, stating, “The vigilant work of our FDA team reflects not only their dedication but also our collective commitment to public health. We are determined to ensure that only safe and quality food reaches every household in Goa.”
The FDA has reaffirmed its commitment to continue strict monitoring and enforcement to uphold food safety standards across the state.
