CALANGUTE: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken action against vendors in Calangute who are selling biryani in an unsanitary and open manner. Seven stalls had their equipment confiscated by authorities.
Food safety officials, under the leadership of FDA officer Richard Noronha, conducted the raid on Friday morning.
The FDA had not authorized the sale of biryani. A few vendors ran their companies by erecting modest booths in front of upscale hotels.
The vendors failed to secure the required legal authorizations. Authorities had to step in since the area surrounding the stalls was filthy.
With help from the Calangute Panchayat, FDA authorities disposed of the confiscated biryani.
