BARDEZ: In a continued drive to ensure food safety and hygiene in the state, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Goa, conducted a series of enforcement inspections across Bardez, targeting unlicensed and unsanitary food operations.
A follow-up inspection in Aldona revealed that the operator of M/s Tiffin Masters, previously shut down in Parra for operating an unauthorized and unhygienic tiffin service, had resumed operations at a new location.
The premises were again found functioning without approvals from the FDA or local authorities and in unsanitary conditions. A notice under Section 31 of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006, was issued, and the food found on-site was destroyed with the operator’s consent.
In another case, FDA acted promptly after a viral video surfaced showing a cow leaking fluid over a shawarma setup in Siolim. Upon inspection, the outlet was found operating in extremely unhygienic conditions and without a valid food safety license. Officials immediately issued an unlicensed notice and ordered the outlet to shut down.
Additionally, based on specific inputs about the use of artificial ripening agents for mangoes, FDA teams raided two premises in Peddem, Mapusa.
Both were found conducting mango ripening activities without authorization. Four surveillance samples of Mallika mangoes were collected due to suspected use of chemicals for artificial ripening. The units were issued unlicensed notices for violations under the FSSA.
