Arambol: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) carried out a verification surveillance drive in Arambol on Friday (28 November 2025), revisiting premises that had been inspected earlier this month. During the operation, officials found that several units which had been directed to halt operations had resumed business without obtaining the required licence.
A total of eight establishments were inspected during the drive. Of these, five were compounded with penalties under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act.
The penalty amounts ranged from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000, adding up to a total of ₹85,000, officials confirmed.
The FDA stated that it will continue surveillance and enforcement checks across the coastal belt of Pernem to ensure compliance with food safety norms and to curb unlicensed operations.
