Margao:
Early morning on a recent day in Margao, Goa, a daring raid by the FDA marked a significant step in the quest for food safety. The operation, prompted by a valuable tip, intercepted a large quantity of milk analogue kalakand en route to distribution points across Goa. The haul, weighing 540 kg and valued at ₹1.89 lakh, was seized from a vehicle due to its transportation without essential refrigeration or proper labeling, highlighting serious breaches in food safety standards.
Margao Municipality joined forces with the FDA to ensure the swift destruction of the seized goods at the site.
Furthermore, an additional 60 kg of the product had already been supplied to a vendor in Verem, which was also promptly confiscated and destroyed.
This action underscores the commitment to safeguarding the consumption of quality and safe food for the people of Goa.
