Team Goemkarponn
PONDA: In a determined push to ensure food safety and hygiene across the state, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Goa, led by Designated Officer Sanjyot Kudalkar (South Goa), carried out a rigorous inspection in Ponda Taluka.
The team included Food Safety Officers (FSOs) Ms. Keyne Carvalho, Abhishek Naik, and Atmaram Naik.
During the inspection, a food manufacturing unit was found operating under unhygienic conditions.
Officials reported several violations, including unpainted premises, a leaking roof, expired products stored in the freezer, raw materials kept directly on the floor, and the presence of unwanted items on the premises.
An inspection report was issued to the Food Business Operator (FBO), who has been given an eight-day deadline to rectify the violations.
In a separate visit, a restaurant was discovered operating without a valid license.
Inspectors noted multiple hygiene lapses, such as dirty and damaged flooring, non-fly-proof windows, missing dustbin lids, scattered waste items, and staff working without uniforms or headgear.
The establishment was issued an unlicensed operation notice along with an inspection report, also requiring compliance within eight days.
Speaking on the enforcement drive, Kudalkar reaffirmed the FDA’s commitment: “I am resolute in my mission to ensure that every Goan has access to safe and high-quality food. FDA Goa will continue intensifying inspections statewide. Non-compliance will be met with strict action.”
Citizens are encouraged to report any concerns regarding food safety to the FDA Goa to help safeguard public health.
