Panaji: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) organised a special health-focused programme on March 12 to mark International Women’s Day, with a series of wellness initiatives aimed at promoting preventive healthcare among its staff.
The programme was conducted through the Goa State Price Monitoring & Resource Unit in collaboration with the AYUSH Cell under the National AYUSH Mission of the Directorate of Health Services. Held under the theme “Give to Gain – Empowering Women for Inclusive Growth,” the initiative highlighted the importance of women’s health and wellbeing.
As part of the programme, several health screening services were provided, including eye check-ups by ASG Eye Hospital, bone density screening, and a 10-minute foot blood circulation therapy session. These activities were aimed at encouraging early detection of health issues and promoting overall wellness among employees.
An awareness session was also conducted by Dr. Vidya Malik, Consultant Homeopathy (NHM), who spoke about the importance of early diagnosis and preventive measures related to breast cancer and cervical cancer, while educating participants about lifestyle precautions and regular screenings.
More than 100 employees took part in the programme and benefited from the health services offered.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of prioritising women’s health.
“Empowering women begins with ensuring their health and wellbeing. Initiatives like these create awareness about preventive healthcare and encourage women to take proactive steps for their health. A healthy woman is the foundation of a healthy society and plays a key role in building stronger communities,” Rane said.
Officials said such initiatives reflect the government’s continued commitment to promoting awareness, preventive healthcare and holistic wellbeing among women.
