FATORDA: The Goa Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday intensified its drive for safer food practices by inspecting a chicken centre in Fatorda during routine checks on 12 November.
Officials found the outlet operating without a valid licence and maintaining highly unhygienic conditions, including broken freezer doors, poor temperature control and nearly 200 kg of packed chicken stored directly on the floor in an unregulated setting.
In the interest of public health, the FDA destroyed the entire stock on the basis of an undertaking from the Food Business Operator (FBO).
An unlicensed notice highlighting the violations was issued.
The department reiterated that its efforts to safeguard consumers from unsafe and unhygienic food operations will continue with zero tolerance.
