PANAJI: Soon after swearing as cabinet minister, Aleixo Sequeira said that he now feels awkward and embarrassed that Nilesh Cabral had to resign to make way for my induction into cabinet.
“I feel awkward and embarrassed that Nilesh Cabral had to resign to make way for my induction into cabinet, said Aleixo Sequeira after taking oath as minister,” said Sequeira
He further said that Nilesh has been a friend of mine. I am obliged to Nilesh and his OSD Lyndon for helping me during my tenure as MLA”, he added.
He also said that he will fulfil the commitment of the constituency with the help of CM.
“Personally, no such commitment (of a Cabinet berth) was given to me. The chief minister made only one commitment…that he will not compromise on the development of my constituency,” he added
The five-time MLA stated, “I believe the promise was made to the group, in reference to CM’s statement regarding the “promise” being fulfilled. It so happens that I am a part of the group.
“I haven’t heard anything from him regarding the portfolios. I would have chosen the portfolio I desired if I had been the CM. It is his right to do so. I served as the Environment and Power Ministers,” Sequeira added
The newly sworn in minister said that he had the most fascinating portfolio as Minister of Stationery and Printing.
“Regarding Nilesh, I experience extreme discomfort and occasionally shame. Even before I was an MLA, he helped me and has been a friend of mine,” Sequeira stated.
