PANAJI: The Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2026 continued to deliver competitive matches as players battled for places in the final rounds across several categories. The tournament has now reached a decisive stage with finalists emerging in the girls under 12 singles and strong performances recorded in the men’s 60 plus doubles category.
In the girls under 12 singles division, Urvi Pai Panandiker secured her place in the final after defeating Aaliya Metry with a commanding 4 to 1, 4 to 0 victory. Anindita Sarwate also produced an impressive display to progress further in the competition, registering a 4 to 1, 4 to 1 win against Tanisha Kulkarni to move into the advanced stages of the draw.
The men’s 60 plus doubles category witnessed consistent performances from experienced players as Sanjay Shinde and David Mendonsa advanced through the rounds. The pair began with a dominant display, defeating Avinash Raiturkar and Rajiv Marathe 6 to 0. They continued their strong run in the semi finals with a convincing 6 to 4, 6 to 1 win over Parag Prabhudesai and Santosh Fondekar to secure a place in the final.
In the other semi final encounter of the same category, Artemio Moraes and Caetano Fernandes delivered a solid performance to overcome Sadguru Dessai and Ishan Bakhale. The duo clinched the match 6 to 3, 6 to 4 to advance further in the competition.
Action also continued in the men’s open singles category where Raju Kundaikar registered a comfortable 6 to 2 victory against Prajat Halankar. In another match, Kedar Tari recorded a convincing 6 to 1 win over Rahul Pawar to progress in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the men’s open doubles category saw Naveen Daivajna and Neville Menezes produce a dominant performance in the round of 32, defeating Sagar Patki and Neal Mayank Gandhi 6 to 0.
The Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open, held in honour of Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar, continues over the coming days with a large participation of 247 players competing across multiple categories.
