PANAJI: A day after Siddhi Naik’s father official lodged a complaint of culpable homicide, the Goa Police has swung into action but has thrown the ball in Goa Medical College Dean’s court.
After the complaint by the father, Sandeep Naik, the Calangute police has now written to the Dean of Goa Medical College, asking a view on the claims made by teh father in his complaint.
The cops have asked teh Dean to form a Medical Board and give their say on the claims made by Siddhi naik’s father on the post-mortem report.
Sources said the Police wrote to Dean only after teh Director General of Police called an emergency meeting last evening on the Siddhi naik death issue.
After rejecting teh case as drowning on Day One, this is the first concrete step the Police took to solve the case.
In the complaint, Siddhi’s father had said that in the viral photo, the dead body is seen in a “face down” (lying on tummy) position, whereas, in the postmortem report, it is mentioned on page no. 2 that “PM Lividity was on the present back aspect of the body”. This means the dead body has remained in a “face-up” or “supine” (lying on back) position for quite some time, and later on, it was changed to “face down” or “prone” position, which was in viral photos. This also means that body was not floating in the water; if so, “PM Lividity would have come on the front aspect of a dead body and not on the back aspect of the body”. This is because the dead body floats in the face and head down position.
Finally, it means that the dead body remained in the face-up position for the first few hours of death, and later on, it was changed to a new position seen in the viral photo. It means that the position of the dead body has been changed by an unknown person/s for at least more than one time, after the initial supine position of the dead body after death.
He said that in the postmortem report, it is also mentioned that “stomach was empty” which means there was no water in the stomach. Further, it mentions, “sand particles present beyond vocal cord”. This means my daughter Siddhi was not drowned in deep seawater. Otherwise, she would have swallowed water in her stomach because she did not know about swimming. On the other hand, sand has gone in vocal cords, which means she has drowned in seawater on the beach.
Finally and most importantly, he said, in the same postmortem report, three injuries are mentioned on the body in the form of bruises. It is mentioned that these bruises are superficial but are of thumb impression size (i.e. two bruises on the left leg were of 2×1 cms size and the one on the right forearm was of 2 x 1.5 cms size). (Postmortem doctor has specifically mentioned in the report that he has determined the depth of bruises by giving incisions all over these bruises so that he had made sure that these bruises were not deep.),” the complaint says.
