Pernem: The Mopa Airport Police has registered an FIR (No. 42/2025) against a driver and the management of cab aggregator Uber for allegedly operating in Goa without the required state transport permits.
According to the complaint filed by the Assistant Director of Transport, Vasco City, South Goa, the accused—Devendra Satardekar, driver of vehicle GA-06-T-8723—was found picking up passengers through the Uber mobile app at Manohar International Airport, Mopa on March 5, 2025, around 12:45 pm.
The FIR, registered on August 8 at 9:21 am, states that the driver acted in connivance with the management of Uber, which is yet to receive formal permission to operate in the state.
The complaint alleges that such operations are in violation of Goa’s transport regulations, pose potential safety and security risks to passengers, and result in a loss of revenue to the state government.
The case has been booked under Sections 223 and 318(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is underway.
