Valpoi: A sudden fire broke out at the residence of Shevanti Mainkar near the Honda Industrial Estate around 12 noon, causing significant damage to the house and household belongings. The blaze originated at the back of the house and quickly spread, severely damaging the roof and interior.
Despite efforts by the family and neighbors to contain the fire, it was only brought under control after the Valpoi fire brigade arrived promptly and extinguished the flames. The damage is estimated to exceed ₹50,000.
Shevanti Mainkar reported that the financial condition of the family is extremely poor, making it impossible for them to carry out repairs without assistance. The family has appealed for government support to rebuild their home.
Local MLA Dr. Deviya Rane responded to the incident, assuring that the family is being given special attention and will receive the necessary help. “The family does not need to worry about anything,” said Rane, emphasizing that measures will be taken to prevent further hardship.
