Rane says recovery rate stands at 65.8 % while mortality rate is 1%, which is lowest in country.
PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today informed that the first two recipients of Plasma Therapy for treating their Covid-19 have tested negative.
Addressing the media, Rane said, “This is a great achievement for us and I am very happy as the first two Covid-19 patients who were given plasma therapy have tested negative today early morning. They were given plasma therapy on August 2.”
Rane further informed that 14 patient’s had been given plasma therapy while 31 were givem Remdesivir in a span of one month.
“14 patients have been given plasma therapy. Each patient is given 2 doses of plasma. Also 31 patients were fiven Remdesivir in a span of one month.” He added
Rane also said that the recovery rate of Covid19 is 65.8 percent while mortality rate is less the 1 percent, which is lowest in the country.
The therapy requires drawing blood from patients who have recovered from COVID-19 and using the plasma and antibodies from that blood in active patients. Unlike blood donation, only the plasma is drawn from the blood.
