CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered a case against five former employees of Hotel Rivasa Emarald and Hotel Rivasa Resort in Calangute for allegedly misappropriating over ₹22 lakh from guest payments over a span of nearly five years.
The complaint was lodged by Mr. Arvind Desai, Director of Arvind Realtors Pvt Ltd, which manages both properties. According to the FIR (Cr No. 86/2025), the accused—Minoshka Mario Mendes (resident of Siolim), Dharmesh Bhandari (from Honnavar), Justin Raj (from Tamil Nadu), Alamgir Anwar Mandal, and Shashibhushan Chouhan—were entrusted with handling guest payments at the reception counters between April 2019 and January 2024.
Police said the employees were responsible for collecting payments made in cash or through digital modes during guest check-ins and check-outs. However, the accused allegedly acted in collusion and dishonestly diverted a total of approximately ₹22 lakh, thereby cheating the company.
The case has been registered under Sections 408 (criminal breach of trust by employees), 420 (cheating), read with 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Kiran G. Naik.
