“We have been informed by Maharashtra counterparts that water level in Tillari dam has reached the crest level and as such we have now written to deputy collectors warning about the same,” WRD Chief Engineer S.D.Patil said.
He stated that the people on the banks of the Chapora river especially in Bardez, Pernem and Bicholim taluka should be on high alert.
“Yesterday the water in Chapora river was two meters below and now it is flowing above that,” he said.
“It is informed by the engineer incharge of Tillari dam at Konalkatta, Maharashtra that the water level in dam has reached to the crest level. So water flowing to reservoir due to rain will start flowing to Tillari river through the spillway. As such there is a chance of increase ink air level of Chapora river. So it is requested to alert the villagers residing on the banks of Chapora river,” the WRD said in a letter to district administration.
