Arambol: Mandrem Police registered a case under Sections 22(c) and 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after seizing narcotic substances worth ₹20.80 lakh near Arambol parking.
The complaint was lodged by PSI Jaydeep Palyekar of Mandrem Police Station. Acting on information, police conducted an operation on January 8 at the Arambol parking area and apprehended the accused identified as Emmanuel, son of Blessed, son of Timothy Okeke, a foreign national from Conakry City, Guinea.
During the search, police seized 242 grams of purple powder suspected to be Ecstasy (MDMA) valued at ₹12.10 lakh, 55 grams of whitish powder suspected to be cocaine valued at ₹3.85 lakh, and 97 grams of whitish crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine valued at ₹4.85 lakh.
The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at ₹20.80 lakh.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is in progress to trace the source of the contraband and identify possible links to a wider drug trafficking network.
