Mandrem: Police at Mandrem registered an offence on Friday based on a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Shri Jaydeep R. Palyekar, aged 33 years, attached to the Mandrem Police Station.
According to police, during a routine patrol near Khalchawada, Arambol, Pernem, Goa around 1:00 PM, officers stopped a foreign national and asked her to produce her legal travel documents. The woman identified herself as Ms. Iana Igorevna Makeeba, 37 years old, a Russian national holding Passport No. 75 6509184. Upon verification, it was found that she was residing illegally in India/Goa without a valid visa, thereby violating Section 7(1)(3) of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946.
Further investigation revealed that Ms. Makeeba had been staying for the past month at Villa Oceanic Guest House, located at Khalchawada, Arambol, Pernem. The owner of the guest house, Mr. Leonardo Gracias De Souza, aged 79, resident of House No. 05, Khalchawada, Arambol, Pernem, Goa, had allegedly failed to submit the mandatory ‘C’ Form to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), thereby enabling the foreign national to reside illegally in the country.
As a result, an FIR was registered against Mr. De Souza under Mandrem Police Station Crime No. 52/2025 under Section 16 of the Foreigners Order, 1948 and Section 14(C) of the Foreigners Act, 1946.
Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
