VERNA: The Verna Police have registered a case against a local guest house manager for allegedly violating provisions of the Foreigners Act. According to the complaint lodged by PSI Rajdatt Arsekar of Verna Police Station, Lizette Fernandes, a resident of Madallem, Cansaulim, and the manager of “Marthony Guest House” at Prial Waddo, Cansaulim, is accused of failing to comply with mandatory procedures for foreign nationals staying at her establishment.
On March 20, 2024, Fernandes allegedly accommodated two foreign nationals of Russian origin at the guest house but failed to fill and submit the mandatory online “C” forms to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Panaji. This is a direct contravention of Section 7(1) of the Foreigners Act.
Following the complaint, the Verna Police registered an offence under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act. The investigation into the matter has been handed over to Lady PSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police Station, who is further probing the case.
