DHARBANDORA: In a swift operation by the Range Forest Officials, a tempo was caught red-handed while illegally transporting Khair wood in the Marad area of Dharbandora. The officials successfully detained three individuals involved in the illegal activity.
The authorities seized the tempo, which was being used to transport the precious Khair wood, estimated to be valued between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000. Khair, known for its use in medicinal applications and its strong, durable timber, is a protected species under local forestry regulations.
According to forest officials, the illegal activity was discovered during routine surveillance, and the operation was conducted seamlessly to prevent further exploitation of the resource.
The three suspects have been taken into custody, and investigations are currently underway to uncover the full extent of the illegal wood trade in the region.
A senior forest officer stated, “We are committed to ensuring the protection of our natural resources. The department will continue its efforts to prevent the illegal logging and transportation of protected species.”
The forest department has assured the public that they will take all necessary steps to curb such illegal activities and bring the perpetrators to justice.
