PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the Forest Rights Committees have received 10136 claims and so far 1270 claims have been disposed of. In 485 claims, titles have been handed over to the beneficiaries.
“The Forest Rights Committees have received 10136 claims and so far 1270 claims have been disposed of. In 485 claims, titles have been handed over to the beneficiaries,” said CM.
He further said that Tthe implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006, commenced in the State of Goa in the year 2012.
“The forest rights committees, Sub Divisional Level Committees and District Level Committees have been formed under the FRA, 2006. At the apex level the State Level Monitoring Committee is headed by the Chief Secretary, State of Goa,” he added.
Sawant said that the claims are settled as per the provisions laid down under Forest Rights Act, 2006 and Amendment Rules 2012.
“The State Government has appointed private survey i.e. Theovel Survey to assist the Forest Rights Committees and further to fast track the process of spot verification claims,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the State of Goa has constituted 6 Special Committees in six Talukas i.e Sattari, Ponda, Dharbandora, Sanguem, Quepem & Canacona to assist Forest Rights Committees at grassroot level, Sub Division Level Committee and District Level Committee for effective implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006.
