VERNA: Verna police have arrested a former employee in connection with the theft of a two-wheeler and cash from a fast food outlet in Cortalim. The accused, identified as Kapil Manish Kumar (26), a resident of Sector 19, Panchkula, Haryana, was taken into custody from Haryana and the stolen scooter was successfully recovered.
The offence was registered on October 24, 2024, at 2:09 pm based on a complaint filed by Sachin Bhimappa Padasalgi (26), a businessman and resident of Zuarinagar, Sancoale. According to the complaint, the incident occurred between 12:15 am and 4:00 pm on October 18, 2024, at the Kung Fu Panda fast food restaurant located opposite the Sharayu Toyota showroom in Quellossim, Cortalim.
The accused, who had been employed as a cook at the complainant’s fast food outlet, allegedly stole a Suzuki Access 125 scooter (Reg No: GA-06-AE-1266, colour: matte blue) parked in front of the restaurant. The scooter was taken using a key that had been kept at the restaurant’s counter. Additionally, the accused also fled with ₹12,000 in cash from the counter, causing a total loss of ₹1,00,288 to the complainant.
Kapil was arrested in Haryana and brought back to Goa. Police have recovered the stolen two-wheeler. An offence has been registered under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused has been remanded to two days of police custody. The case is being investigated by ASI Paresh Faldesai, under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
