New Delhi: Veteran politician and former Governor of multiple Indian states, Satya Pal Malik, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 79. He had been undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi.
Mr. Malik served as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir during a politically turbulent period, including the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. He also held gubernatorial roles in Goa, Bihar, and Meghalaya during his long career in public service.
Known for his outspoken views, Malik often made headlines even after his tenure in office. His political journey spanned several decades, during which he was associated with various parties and held several key positions.
Condolences poured in from political leaders across party lines, acknowledging his contributions to Indian politics and public life.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
