CURCHOREM: Former Sarpanch of Xeldem claims rampant illegal hill cutting in Nirmalnagar of Xeldem panchayat area.
However, the Xeldem panchayat Secretary says no complaint has been received about illegal hill cutting and plot development in Nirmalnagar.
“There is no stop for illegalities in the rural areas of Goa, and the same has been happening in the Nirmalnagar of Xeldem panchayat. The former Sarpanch of Xeldem Pramod Desai himself has pointed out that rampant hill cutting and Illegal development of plots are ongoing in the Nirmalnagar area near electricity substation Xeldem. Ex-Sarpanch Pramod Desai visited the site where these illegalities are in progress.
Further, Desai told the Goemkarponn reporter that hill cutting has been done and also plots are being developed with road connectivity. Desai further informed that to reach this place, the road used is in the jurisdiction of Chadreshwar Bhoothnath Parvat property.
He also claimed to have an open proof of the main gate where on gate Bhoothnath Prasanna has been engraved.
Desai said, “I have already informed and complained to the Panchayat about illegal hill cutting in the Nirmalnagar area.
He said that local authorities like Quepem Mamlatdar and Deputy Collector Quepem should look into the matter immediately. There are high chances that there might be illegal houses mushrooming in this area in the near future.
When contacted Deputy Sarpanch Xeldem panchayat Maria Fernandes, she said whatever was going on in Nirmalnagar panchayat didn’t know about the situation a few days back. But yesterday, we came to know through our Ex sarpanch and present panch member of Xeldem.
She further added that whatever is going on in a particular place, Panchayat has never been informed about it.
“We learnt about it by seeing a video, and we will definitely take action on this,” she said.
Panchayat secretary Ravindra Wadikar said that Panchayat has not received any complaints in this regard. “We were unaware about any such illegalities a few days back”, he added.
