PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane inaugurated the Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme for Goan Khaje manufacturers, an initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) aimed at strengthening food safety standards in the state.
FoSTaC is designed to train food handlers in essential aspects of hygiene, food safety, and regulatory practices. The certification will enable local Khaje producers to continue preparing Goa’s traditional sweet while adhering to nationally recognised safety benchmarks.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Rane said, “By empowering our Khaje manufacturers with FoSTaC certification, we are ensuring that traditional Goan sweets continue to be prepared with the highest standards of quality and safety. This initiative reinforces our commitment to make safe and wholesome food accessible to every Goan, while safeguarding our rich culinary heritage.”
He further added that similar structured training programmes will be extended to other food sectors in Goa, thereby enhancing consumer trust while preserving authenticity.
